Resources

Know YoUR resources - both ON and OFF campus! Knowing resources can benefit both you and others. If you find yourself in a situation where you or someone else is needing help, it can sometimes be tricky to know where to reach out in the moment. By familiarizing yourself beforehand, it can become easier in the moment!

On-Campus

University Counseling Center (UCC)

  • UCC offers group therapy as well as individual therapy. If you are even the slightest bit concerned about a friend (or yourself!) it is always a good idea to reach out to UCC. A UCC therapist will always be happy to see you!

CARE Network

  • The CARE Network is a referral based system. You can refer yourself as well as others. Referrals can be made anonymously or non-anonymously. After making a referral, someone will be in touch with the person needing assistance shortly. This is not for emergency situations.

UR Connected Coach

  • Feel like you need someone to talk to, but not necessarily a therapist from UCC? Want to talk to a peer? Contact a UR Connected Coach! These are University of Rochester students that have been trained in having tough conversations. They know how to listen and be there for you. They are also aware of a LOT of on-campus and off-campus resources that they can help you get set-up with.

Self-Help: TAO

  • Feel like you could benefit from some extra coping skills and mental wellness tips? Don't want to talk to a therapist? Try TAO! TAO is an online, private system that teaches coping skills, problem solving, and communication skills. Enroll in TAO through the UCC website.

Crisis Situations

  • If you are experiencing a crisis, call (585) 275-3113 to get connected to a UCC professional. They are available after-hours AND on the weekends as well as normal hours!

Off-Campus

Strong Memorial Hospital

  • If you or your friend is experiencing a crisis or needs evaluation, you can always head over to the hospital. There they can evaluate your/their condition and decide what they/you might benefit from!
