U of R's Irish Dance Club

About Us

Celtic was formed in 2007 by two champion Irish dancers in an effort to spread Irish culture within the University of Rochester. We perform at various events around the U of R campus, compete yearly at the annual Villanova Collegiate Irish Dance Festival, and host an end of the year showcase each spring.

We have both a beginner and performance group so all levels and experience are welcome!

Experience Levels

Celtic has two sections based on dance experience!

Performance Group

Performance group members meet several times a week to practice together and learn new skills from each other. Two main events take place during the calendar year for the performance group; attendance to an intercollegiate Irish dance competition at Villanova University in the fall and the annual Celtic spring showcase.

Beginner Group

Members that have little to no Irish dance experience spend time learning from performance group members. By the end of the school year members of this group will learn the basics of Irish dance and participate in the annual Celtic spring show. When members of this group are ready, they move on to join the performance group.
