Hi, fruit! The snow is snowing today and professors are professoring. Fortunately, it’s the last full week of the semester so the end is in sight…just like Nicki Minaj’s fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2!!1! Barbz, let’s make mother proud and save the semester/stream PF2!
Last Week?
Last week, we linked a W2M asking for your spring semester availability, but only one person did it. Molly, you’re a real one and Ellie herself promised to give you $1M from our oSTEM budget, thank you!! Everyone else, pls plspls take a second to put in your availability so we can consider you when deciding our GMM schedule soon (probably tomorrow since reservations are already open and we want a good room)!
Next semester, it’s likely our GMM schedule will be different (hence the W2M thing), but we’re hoping to have our GIM on the first full week of classes and we’re lowkey excited for you to see what we’ve been planning!
- Spring ‘24 GMM Scheduling: W2M Availability
Have we mentioned our W2M? Well here’s a reminder to put in ur availability and have no excuse to miss out on the action-packed spring we’ve planned to outshine even last year’s. - Highlighting Graduating Members
Graduating oSTEM members! We’d love to highlight you before the semester ends and join you in celebrating your winter graduation. If you’re graduating this semester (undergrads & grads), please reach out to us via email (uofr.ostem@gmail.com), IG (@UR.oSTEM), or our Feedback Form and let us know!!

- Game Night w/ oSTEM: Next Thursday @ 3-6 pm
After several weeks of academic setbacks, we are happy to announce that our opps have not succeeded! Our traditional end-of-semester Game Night where we take a pre-finals week brain break and study (or not, but I think we legally have to say that, idk) is still on. It is (tentatively) scheduled for next Thursday (December 14) from 3-6 pm in Douglass 407, we’ll confirm in our next newsletter (and through IG/Slack)! - Website
Browse through our CCC website to take advantage of our compiled Resources & Opportunities (scholarships, conferences, etc.), read more about our iconic E-Board, and find other general oSTEM links. The website is regularly updated, if you spot any issues or know of an R&O we haven’t included, our Feedback Form is always open!

- WiC-MiC’s Grad Panel Q&A: This Friday @ 12 pm
Our besties from WiC-MiC asked us to share their upcoming Grad Panel with you (flyer). The panel encompasses a diverse lineup of female/minority guest speakers from various backgrounds in academia (graduate school, PhD program, MBA degree) who will be answering any questions you may have specifically about the University of Rochester graduate applications.
In The News
• UR oSTEM on IG: @UR_EngineeringAndCS Post The university’s Engineering and CS IG recently congratulated us on our successful National Conference. Thank you besties for platforming and celebrating queer professionals succeeding & serving. Side Note: I’m not really sure where they got the pictures from, it may have been from the debrief slides I shared a couple of weeks ago…but they were so unserious omg. I’m glad they looked past my silly, goofy delivery and still decided to congratulate us! <3
Queer Highlight?
You know what inspires me? Fearlessness. Drive. Barbz stay in school. Don’t you ever be lazy; don’t you ever complain about hard work. Work hard it pays off.
- Nicki Minaj
Unfortunately, Leila’s highlight will have to be pushed to early next semester because of finals. While I could use one from my in-case-of-emergencies queer highlights reserve, I thought the inspirational quote above would be more impactful and relevant!
