- O4U 2024 Conferences: Apply by March 3, 2024 @ 11:59 pm PST Out for Undergrad’s (O4U) Conferences are life-changing experiences for LGBTQ2+ undergrads, featuring prominent queer speakers, inspiring mentorship discussions, legendary career fairs, and more! All O4U Conferences are all-expenses-paid (food, flight, hotel stay, etc.), open to international & DACA students, and accommodate students with disabilities as well as students who are not out. oSTEM members have gone to their conferences every year since starting, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or want application guidance!!
The Engineering + Life Sciences Conference is scheduled for September 26-28, 2024 in St. Paul, MN, and will feature keynote speakers, mentorship workshops (with peers & industry professionals), social networking times, and a career fair with leading engineering firms. You can read more and see last year’s sponsors here or start your application here.
The Digital Conference is pending final dates but is projected for Sept/Oct 2024 in NYC (as an engineer, I’m so jealous). The conference will help connect you with top corporate recruiters from marketing and tech industries and will feature similar functions as the Engineering conference. See past sponsors here or start your application here.
Clarification note: O4U applications are on a rolling basis split into 3 rounds, you only need to apply for one round and it’s not a long process at all! Most acceptances by % happen in the earlier rounds, so apply now!! - QTBIPOC Design’s Portfolio Review Night: February 20 @ 5 pm ET QTBIPOC Design is hosting a virtual portfolio review session providing one-on-one career advice and portfolio feedback for QTBIPOC designers on February 20th at 5 pm ET. As an attendee, you'll be able to walk through a design/UX case study with a reviewer and get actionable, individualized feedback to help you in your job searches and career journeys. Fill out the attendee intake form to RSVP here to get matched with the right portfolio reviewer. Side note: They were a recommended resource by O4U, but I’m not in design so if you attend, pls let me know how it goes! It is for BIPOC LGBTQ+ designers. - NSPE Member Scholarships: Apply by April 1, 2024
The National Society of Professional Engineers is offering $5k scholarships to rising juniors in engineering (and closely-related fields), as well as mentorship connections, conference access, and more. Read more about the Steinman Scholarship here or the Auxiliary Legacy Scholarship here. Side note: NSPE membership is required to apply to either and that costs $299/year, I wouldn’t recommend going through all that unless you’re also planning to get your PE.
Hi, queer! Join us for our upcoming bi-weekly meeting from 7-8 pm at Douglass 401! We'll be doing a fun speed friending event that's perfect for you (new member or old timer) to meet other LGBTQ+ professionals on the rise and network with cake. We'll also be sharing details about our upcoming events (ie. Valentine's social, speaker dinner, etc.), and have fun!! Don't miss out <3
