About Us

Club Squash welcomes all undergraduate students, who are interested in learning about the game of squash and participating in club activities, no experience is necessary! We will teach you how to play and show you how fun it can be. The Club Squash for the University of Rochester does not discriminate against any individual or organization of individuals on the basis of age, color, disability, domestic violence status, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, military/veteran status, national origin, race religion/creed, sex, sexual orientation or any other status protected by law.

For players seeking a higher level of intensity, competition, and commitment to the team, the women's team ladder offers just that. Those who make the ladder have the opportunity to travel and compete in matches throughout the school year, including Nationals in February. Over the past few seasons, we've played teams at Bard, Vassar, William Smith, Colgate, Boston University, and others.

Practice times are Monday and Wednesdays from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. at the Lyman Courts in the Goergen Athletic Center. Feel free to drop in any time during the semester and check us out!

Everyone is allowed to participate in our club. However to participate competitively, anyone who does not identify as a woman is not eligible. College squash association (CSA) only allows women to compete on a women's team. Because we are UofR's women's competitive team, we must comply to these rules. However, for the club portion of our team we allow all genders to join and come play squash! Because there is a men's competitive team and a women's competitive team, CSA makes the competitive teams gender exclusive. Further clarity including gender definitions and policies as well as policies on transgender student athletes can be seen on the CSA website rules and regulations: https://csasquash.com/about/policies/

For our club eligibility to join includes:

Eligibillity- All Students' Association (SA) members shall be eligible for membership. An SA Member is a University of Rochester undergraduate of the college who has paid their SA activities fee. All University of Rochester faculty, staff, graduate students and Eastman students shall be eligible for associate membership. All members and associate members shall be listed on the organization's CCC site. Membership is automatically renewed yearly unless the member graduates, requests to cancel their membership, or fails to meet membership requirements.

Definition of an active member: An active member is defined as an undergraduate student who displays a continued interest in the sport. They must attend at least on of two mandatory, two-hour practices through the week unless they have a conflicting obligation. They are also required to pay the semester dues.

Definition of a competitive ladder member- A ladder member is an active member who also is within all CSA eligibility requirements for competing against other teams for participation in the CSA Women's Nationals. All ladder members are required to participate in the executive board or committees of the club.

Definition of associate member: an associate member is defined as any SA member who attends practice fewer than four times a month throughout the school year. Associate members cannot compete on the competitive ladder, vote in elections,or serve on the executive board.
