Who We Are

No Jackets Required is a Student Activities funded club at the University of Rochester. The club is open to all students, and encompasses a very wide range of interests.

Our goal is to promote the performance, discussion, and appreciation of contemporary popular music and to strengthen the University's music community.

To achieve this goal, we have performing ensembles, put on major shows, put on lectures and workshops, support other groups' events, network musicians, and give students a chance to develop their performance and organizational skills.

How to Get Involved:

Come to an Open Mic Night, a performance, an E-Board meeting, a general meeting, or just send us an email. You can perform in an ensemble, a major show, come to jam nights and workshops, help organize and promote shows, or just come hang out with us. NJR is open to all UR students, even non-musicians - if you love music, this is the club for you!

For Prospective Members: Please email nojacketsrequired@gmail.com to get on our mailing list, and please email an officer with any questions you have about how to get involved!

Major Shows:

Each semester, NJR presents a major show in either the May Room or Strong Auditorium. These are often done in cooperation with other groups and feature a large number of musicians and organizers. In addition to performers, the shows are often co-sponsored by other groups on campus such as fraternities, sororities, and the music department.
