Members Benefits and Goals

The Linguistics Undergraduate Council aims to provide a community within the linguistics department where students can further involve themselves. This community provides a space for involvement, discussion, networking, and fun. We aim to foster the growth of the University of Rochester's linguistics-interested students by raising awareness of linguistics as an academic area of study on campus, building a social group of like-minded students, and hosting events that will allow students to explore and grow within the discipline.
The organization hosts workshops, reading groups, guest speakers, movie screenings, game nights, hikes, professor meet and greets, a peer reviewed working papers for undergrads, and more. We hope that with diverse set of events, we can encourage involvement and discussion from students at any interest or comfort level within the discipline, as well as related fields such as Brain & Cognitive Sciences, Philosophy, Computer Science, Anthropology, Psychology, and more where they intersect with language. We truly love linguistics and sharing it with those who care to be involved!
