What is ASME?

The American Society Of Mechanical Engineers promotes the art, science, & practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe.

ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than 100,000 members in 140+ countries. Thirty-two thousand of these members are students.

From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers and academic leaders, ASME's members are as diverse as the engineering community itself. ASME serves this wide-ranging technical community through quality programs in continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations and other forms of outreach.

ASME at UR

Here at the University of Rochester, ASME is committed to supporting and developing your engineering professional identity to help you either find a job or get accepted into a graduate program. This is achieved through a variety of programs hosted throughout the academic year that target aspects such as job or graduate school applications, networking, certifications, schooling, and much more. ASME also works closely with the Mechanical Engineering Department to represent you and organize social events with your fellow mechanical engineers.

Meetings

Meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 PM (EST) in the Hopeman Conference Room 224. Click the "Join" button to receive our emails and stay up-to-date and what these meetings entail.

Events

Events range from a pumpkin launch to networking activities, resume workshops to lunch with professors, and study halls to guest speakers. ASME holds activities to stimulate you socially, professionally, and academically.

Connections

Through ASME at the University of Rochester, you will be able to make connections with professors, professionals, and your fellow engineering students. We are committed to providing many opportunities to develop all of our members professionally!
