After the Covid-19 Pandemic, health care in the United States is in dire need of assistive technologies to address the five main categories of patient harm and injury:

The five categories of patient harm and injury we expect that all competitions and events will use as a foundation for the teams’ innovative technologies are:
1. Medication-related
2. Medical Complications with Patient Care
3. Procedure/surgery-related
4. Infections
5. Diagnostic Errors

With a team of your peers, design a product or service that addresses one of these five areas and develop a plan to commercialize it. Winning teams will receive $3500 in cash prizes and earn resources from the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative, a non-profit willing to share their national network of healthcare institutions. Each team will have the opportunity to meet weekly with a subject matter expert in patient safety and receive feedback on their idea and commercialization plan ahead of the final pitch competition.

Kick off meeting will be October 19th 4pm-5:30pm. Teams and individuals may register and then individuals will be able to either pick or be assigned to teams. The final pitch competition will be on Thursday November 16th, time TBD and will be announced after all teams are assigned and topics are picked.

Event is open to the whole campus; undergraduate and Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Trainees Welcome!
