Sustainable labs intiative

A community of healthcare and research lab members who are taking action to make our research operations more sustainable

Laboratories and healthcare systems contribute significantly to global waste and emissions

The Sustainable Labs Initiative (SLI) is a grassroots community organization dedicated to fostering a culture of sustainability within research and clinical laboratories at the University of Rochester. By addressing the environmental impact of laboratory practices, we aim to foster eco-conscious research, reduce waste, enhance resource efficiency, and implement sustainable solutions to ensure a healthier planet.
