About Us

Our mission is to help reduce the University of Rochester's food waste, while simultaneously minimizing food insecurity in Rochester.

Rochester Food Insecurity Statistics

  • 135,000 Rochester residents are at risk for hunger.
  • Rochester has the second highest food insecurity rate in the state of New York.
  • 70% OF Rochester children are at risk for hunger

Our Statistics

  • We donate 250 meals every week.
  • We currently collect food from Grab & Go, The Brew, and Connections every Friday
  • We collect and donate around 1,250 pounds of food per semester.
  • We are 1 of the 230 chapters that the Food Recovery Network has in the U.S.

Members Benefits

Our members will be a part of a collaborative and supportive team of individuals and get to engage with the community surrounding the U of R.  Members also have the opportunity to travel with FRN to sustainability conferences off campus, as well as help organize events to raise awareness of food waste at the U of R.
