Title: Social Network Spatial Model

Abstract: Social network models allow us to statistically represent the connections between people in a meaningful way, providing a visual display of such connections in what is known as "social space." In considering social networks, it often is of interest to additionally examine how some characteristic varies over a social space. Because of this, social network methodology is combined with traditional spatial analysis techniques to form the social network spatial model, which simultaneously models the unobserved locations of network members in social space and the spatial process that exists over this space. In this talk, the basis of latent position network models and point-process spatial models with be introduced, followed by an exploration of the combination of these two methodologies into the unified social network spatial model, along with its applications.
