Jamal Holtz ’20 (Social Justice and Policy Making, Interdisciplinary)
Chief of Staff, LINK Strategic Partners

Jamal Holtz is a native Washingtonian, having grown up in Ward 8 of Washington, DC. Jamal serves as Chief of Staff at LINK Strategic Partners (LINK), where he helps lead the firm’s executive functions, business development, strategy, and public affairs portfolio, as well as its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging work internally and externally. In 2022, Jamal was recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of the top 25 business leaders under 25 for his work on DEI&B and making an innovative impact in the region.

Jamal’s commitment to community leadership and advocacy began during his time at the University of Rochester as a Posse Scholar. He was widely respected for his leadership, diplomacy, and ability to create meaningful change on campus. As President of the Students’ Association Government, Jamal established a Presidential Advisory Council to provide student oversight and input on issues facing the campus. He also co-chaired the Gender Inclusivity Working Group, introducing policies that advanced inclusivity across campus organizations. Jamal was an integral part of various committees, including the Department of Public Safety Gun Proposal Ad-Hoc Committee, and actively led campus dialogues following bias-related incidents, fostering understanding and systemic change. His leadership in these efforts has shaped many campus life decisions that exist within campus today like safe ride home for students and other campus initiatives.

At LINK, Jamal continues to advance the firm’s mission and growth across the country and abroad. He created LINK’s growing Public Affairs, and Equity and Belonging practice areas. Jamal has led impactful initiatives across government, community engagement, and economic development, including creating racial equity plans for local agencies and facilitating dialogues to prioritize equity in government services. He has spearheaded large-scale activations resulting in millions of dollars in economic impact and hundreds of regional jobs. Recognized for empowering communities and championing collaborative efforts, Jamal frequently serves in thought leadership roles at national and international convenings such as SXSW, the Aspen Institute Socrates Seminar, Concordia, and the Festival of the Diaspora.

In his civic work, Jamal serves on several advisory boards, including DC's Mayor’s Board of Commission on Juvenile Justice and the Farmers Restaurant Group Culture Council (with nine restaurant locations across the east coast) that works to provide insight and education on best practices related to human resources, employee relations, communication (internal and external), and career development. He also continues to support his alma mater as a member of the University of Rochester’s Dean's Advisory Cabinet and as an advisor to the university's Board of Trustee Diversity Advisory Council. Additionally, Jamal serves on boards such as the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative and the Destination DC Partnership & Alliance Committee.

Jamal’s commitment to advocacy extends to his work as a lead organizer with the 51 for 51 statehood campaign, fighting to make DC the 51st state on behalf of its 700,000+ residents. He brings experience working with grassroots leaders, community-based organizations, non-profits, elected officials, and government agencies, as well as national and local political campaigns in the DC region and beyond.
