WHO WE ARE

The UR Baja SAE team is a student-run, non-profit organization which designs, fabricates, tests,
and competes with a single-seater off-road vehicle. From mechanical and biomedical engineering
to optics and business majors, our numbers include anyone who is interested in learning design!
Whether you have built a car from scratch or have never touched a wrench in your life, we will
utilize any your experience and will teach you designing, manufacturing, and testing methods.

WHAT WE DO

We work part of the summer and throughout the school year designing, manufacturing and
testing our car in preparation for national competitions held across the United States. Design is a
huge component of what we do. Our team offers students a hands-on approach to engineering as
it provides a practical application of classroom-based learning.
Using everything from angle grinders to lathes, we manufacture a majority of the Baja car
ourselves each year.

Mission
UR Mock Trial competes throughout the year against other colleges in mock trials. As a nationally top-ranking program, we offer opportunities to compete on both a local and national level. Students are able to play the role of an attorney or witness. As we prepare for our competitions, we work together to gain an elementary legal education, learn trial techniques, and make our public speaking, advocacy, and acting skills "ever better".

We hold a general interest meeting and tryouts at the start of each academic year. Everyone who tries out will compete with our organization, so we'd love to see you no matter your skill level!

The goals of URMUN are to increase awareness of international perspectives on global issues, develop public speaking skills, and promote the arts of negotiation and diplomacy.

Mission
As the Quiz Bowl group at the University of Rochester, we aim to provide a space to play academic trivia games. The topics covered include history, music, philosophy, pop culture, science, and everything in between. We also compete at tournaments hosted by other universities in the region.

Membership Benefits
We hold meetings on Thursdays from 8:30-10:00 pm on Zoom. In both the fall and spring semesters, we compete in tournaments such as NAQT and ACF. There are no tryouts; anyone interested can come. We also run Trivia Nights every two weeks.

An organization for coordinating, supporting, and housing competitive and non-competitive student-led robotics projects. We also aim to educate members in robotics-related tools and techniques useful for these projects such as programming, computer-aided design, 3D printing, robotics algorithms, and embedded systems techniques.

Membership Benefits
Our members may participate in one or multiple of our student-led robotics projects or begin their own new project at the beginning of each semester. The UR Robotics Club provides funding, storage, and advisor oversight to these projects. Members may also participate in our educational workshops on robotics-related topics and our campus events exploring the ongoing robotics research occurring on campus.

University of Rochester Solar Splash is a group of students who are committed to designing, building, and racing a solar-powered electric boat. Our group emphasizes learning and practicing engineering skills through hands-on construction and real-world application of theory learned in the classroom.

Our goal is to learn a hands-on approach to the hydrodynamics, materials, mechanics, and electronics involved in building an electric boat to enter the international Solar Splash Competition each year. Through extensive drafting, construction, and testing, we hope to achieve success as a team while also exposing our members to the practical engineering process. This team is completely student-run.
