How does research become policy, and how can you help shape that process? Join the University of Rochester Science Policy Initiative for a conversation with Isaac Smith, Grassroots Advocacy Manager at the Alzheimer’s Association, with guest speaker Erica K. Salamida, Director of Community Engagement for the Coalition of New York State Alzheimer’s Association Chapters, joining virtually.

Drawing on Alzheimer’s advocacy, this event will explore how scientific evidence and community priorities inform government decisions, how advocates engage lawmakers, and what working in science policy looks like day to day. Students will learn about career paths beyond the lab, skills that translate into policy work, and opportunities to get involved.

The event takes place Thursday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a smaller, advance-registration lunch with Isaac from noon to 1 p.m. for further conversation and questions.
Food Provided (For lunch Registration is required and there is an attendance limit. For the talk, snacks and refreshments will be provided.)
