Investigating Research Month
"If you build it, they will come." Field of Dreams, 1989
October was jam-packed with information sessions, student panels, expos, fairs, webinars, workshops, and presentations to inform, connect, and engage undergrads in research. And WOW, did they show up!
Investigating Research Month drew over 1,300 students to these events. Students were able to make faculty connections, talk to experienced peer researchers, investigate research culture in their disciplines, and learn about funded summer opportunities.
A huge thank you to all of the student volunteers, Research Ambassadors, staff, and faculty who supported these events and helped make them so successful!
Authorship Workshop
Are you curious about authorship models in STEM disciplines? Do you want to learn how to have difficult conversations around collaboration and credit? Join us in person for an interactive workshop!
This event is the first in a series of authorship workshops, which will include humanities authorship conversations, handling authorship disputes, and more.
Join us in person this Friday, November 14 from 3:30-4:30 on URochester's River Campus, Rettner Hall, room 307. This event is open to all, with a focus on undergraduate and graduate students.
Research Ambassadors from a variety of disciplines are holding office hours in Wilson Commons, Hirst Lounge on the next couple of Tuesday evenings. Bring whatever questions you may have about undergraduate research. No appointment is necessary.
Tuesday, November 18, 5:00-7:00pm
Tuesday, December 2, 5:00-7:00pm
Brief bios and contact information for these forty-five researchers can be found on our Research Ambassador page.
Funded Summer Research Opportunities
Summer 2026 feels a long way off as the temperature outside continues to drop. Although, it is not too early to start planning a summer research experience. Whether you expect to stay at URochester or visit another city for your summer research, we can help you connect with opportunities.
There are over thirty funded summer research experiences at URochester that span across all disciplines. Visit our Summer Research Internal Opportunitiespage for a full listing, sorted by disciplines.
For those of you who wish to change your research venue to a non-Rochester location, check out our Summer Research External Opportunities page. There you will find several ways to narrow your search using databases, lists from other universities and professional organizations, and opportunities by area of discipline.
Now is the time to start your search for summer research!
