Javier Bautista is Senior Associate, Faculty member in Cancer Control where he works with principal investigators using statistical methodology to develop, design and analyze results from studies related to improving the quality of life of cancer patients.  Cancer Control is a unit of the Surgery Department at the U of R Medical Center. Prof. Bautista also teaches in the undergraduate Statistics Program in the College.

Prof. Bautista has worked in several industries as a consultant and in analytic roles over the span of his career.  At Eastman Kodak he worked with chemists and film builders in developing new photographic films.  He moved to Kodak’s Health Imagining division to work in managing the marketing research plan for its digital computed radiography product.  He also worked at Dell (computers) in a database marketing group where he developed a profitability model for small business customers and assisted brand managers and other marketing staff in developing marketing plans.  At Time Warner Cable he managed the customer satisfaction and market share programs for its Cable, Phone and Internet businesses across the US.  Prof. Bautista’s first job in a statistical capacity was working for the US Army where he trained engineers in statistical techniques and helped them with technical aspects of the US Army contracts, they managed with outside government contractors.  Prof. Bautista regularly teaches the Introduction to Mathematical Statistics course for the Statistics program in the College.

Javier will speak on the different statistical methods currently used in Cancer Control and his experience in the different roles throughout his career.
