UR PDA Career Enhancement Award 2020
The annual Career Enhancement Award was created to support the professional development of postdocs as part of the UR PDA’s mission. The award usually prioritizes conference, workshop, or networking events that provide opportunities for professional development not available at the University of Rochester. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s award also allowed for other expenses that could aid in the applicants’ career development.
We’ve received a total of ten applications for the UR PDA Career Enhancement Award 2020. Our independent judges have rated all submissions that were anonymized, and announced four awardees that each will receive $600 allowance towards their specified purchase in support of their careers. This year’s awardees are:
Lok Ming Tam (AS&E, Department of Biology)
For attending the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting, the National Science Policy Network Annual Symposium, and a monthly subscription of datacamp.com for learning R programming.
Aditya Raghunandan (AS&E, Mechanical Engineering)
For purchasing components and building a new benchtop microfluidic device that recreates cerebrospinal fluid flow measured in the brains of mice with Alzheimer’s disease.
Sanjib Guha (SMD, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine)
For purchasing a software license for neuron tracing and trafficking cell organelles over time on a neurite process.
Xavier Rambout (SMD, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics)

Congratulations to our four awardees and best of luck for your further career development!
