The City of Rochester has had a housing crisis for decades. Thousands of people across our city deal with eviction, unaffordable rent, unsafe housing, and houselessness every single day. At the heart of this crisis is the system of housing and land ownership that dominates our city and our world, one which is concerned primarily with generating profits for the wealthiest among us. City Roots Community Land Trust is trying to change that with a mission to create and promote permanently affordable, community-controlled land and housing in Rochester. Join us for a conversation with Graham Hughes about the housing crisis, how City Roots creates permanent affordability and community control, and how you can support these efforts to change the housing system in Rochester.

This event is a part of the Breaking the Bubble community conversation series sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement. Others sponsors: UR's Office for Residential Life and Housing Services and Rotary Club of Rochester Southwest.

Anyone requiring disability accommodations should contact Wilson Commons Student Activities at 585-275-5911 or wcsa@rochester.edu. This request should be made at least five business days in advance of the event.
